The City of Clyde Hill, WA is seeking a dynamic and experienced City Administrator to guide this residential community of just over 3,000 residents, less than two miles from Seattle across the SR 520 floating bridge. Perched on a gentle hill above neighboring cities, Clyde Hill is prized for its elevated setting with panoramic views of Lake Washington, the Seattle skyline, the Olympic Mountains, and Mount Rainier. Consisting almost entirely of single-family homes on spacious, beautifully landscaped lots, Clyde Hill is widely regarded as one of the most desirable places to live in the Pacific Northwest, with home values among the highest in the region.

THE CITY OF CLYDE HILL

The City of Clyde Hill serves a population of 3,095 across one square mile with a 2026 budget of $8.1 million, including a $6.8 million General Fund. A team of 20 FTEs works across five departments: City Administration, Building & Planning, Finance, Police, and Public Works. Clyde Hill is bordered by Bellevue, Kirkland, Medina, Yarrow Point, and Hunts Point and contracts with several of these neighbors to share the costs of certain municipal services. The City operates under a Mayor-Council form of government, with a five-member City Council and a Mayor who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the City.

THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR

The City Administrator serves as the Chief Administrative Officer, reporting directly to the Mayor and working with the City Council. The Administrator is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all City operations while providing overall leadership and vision to the entire City government. The position oversees major functions including administration, finance, police, public works, building and planning, and acts as the primary liaison for legal counsel.

WHY APPLY

Clyde Hill is a low-density residential community with many highly educated and professionally successful residents. Nestled between Kirkland and Bellevue, residents have local access to regional amenities, while enjoying a close-knit, intimate community, surrounded by natural beauty. The City Administrator serves as the City’s Chief Administrative Officer, responsible for day-to-day operations, fiscal stewardship, and community engagement. The successful candidate will have a direct impact working with an engaged staff and contracted service providers to implement policy, and ensure efficient, high-quality service delivery to the community. The Mayor and Council desire an Administrator who is an excellent communicator, exhibits sound judgment, displays high professional integrity, and develops meaningful and positive relationships.
