The City of Umatilla is seeking a City Attorney for this growing city of 8,256 situated along the banks of the Columbia River and the confluence of the Umatilla and Columbia Rivers, three hours east of Portland, Oregon. Umatilla is known for offering desert scenic beauty, easy access to outdoor recreation, and a quieter lifestyle within reach of bigger cities.
THE CITY OF UMATILLA
Incorporated in 1864, the City of Umatilla serves a population of 8,256 across 5.4 square miles with a total budget of $143 million and a team of 82 FTEs. Operating under the Council-Manager form of government, the six-member City Council is elected at large to staggered four-year terms. Departments include Finance and Administrative Services, Community Development, Parks and Recreation, Police, and Public Works.
THE CITY ATTORNEY
The City Attorney is the chief legal counsel for the City and works under the direction of the City Manager. Responsibilities include providing legal services to the City via the City Manager and City Council, including guidance on a variety of topics such as public meetings, public records laws, employment law, and land use matters such as right of way and utility easements.
