El Paso County Public Health is seeking an Executive Director to direct and administer the public health department for Colorado’s most populous county. With over 750,000 residents, El Paso County is home to Colorado Springs—the county seat and the state’s second-largest city—and the iconic 14,115-foot Pikes Peak. The county's unique blend of natural beauty, access to both outdoor recreation and metropolitan amenities, and over 280 days of sunshine each year make it one of the most sought-after places to live in Colorado.
EL PASO COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH
El Paso County Public Health (EPCPH) provides a broad spectrum of services to address ongoing and critical public health and safety issues for over 750,000 residents across over 2,100 square miles. EPCPH’s charge has and continues to be twofold – actively address urgent and emerging needs of El Paso County, while looking ahead at long-term needs to continue to support the health and well-being of the community. The department is governed by a nine-member Board of Health and operates with a 2026 budget of $26 million and a current staffing of approximately 160 FTEs.
THE PUBLIC HEALTH DIRECTOR
Governed by the Board of Health, the Executive Director administers and enforces federal, state and local public health laws and regulations while providing strategic leadership and administrative oversight for a broad range of public health programs. The role carries out the will of the Board of Health directing resources to implement the county’s public health plan, evaluates community health needs, and coordinates with public and private entities to advance public health goals.
