Position Profile


The City of Ashland, Oregon is seeking a knowledgeable Human Resources Director for this vibrant and progressive community of 21,600 tucked among the foothills of southern Oregon's mountainous Rogue Valley. Known as a cultural hot spot, Ashland offers small-town charm with sophisticated amenities. The mix of Ashland's artisan culture, college population, and tourism create a vibrant community that attracts over 400,000 visitors per year.

THE HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR

The HR Director will join a small but mighty team who are dedicated in ensuring the City of Ashland is an employer of choice. The City’s Human Resources division coordinates services and programs which assist all city departments in recruiting and maintaining a qualified and diverse workforce, and provides employment-related services to the City's 200+ employees.  The division operates with a budget of $1.1 million and a team of two full-time staff members. Activities include: recruitment, retention, employee relations, training, employee recognition, benefits administration, employee safety, classification, compensation, and labor negotiations.
