The City of Brier is seeking a certified Building Official for this residential community located amid a natural landscape about 15 miles north of Seattle. Incorporated in 1965, yhe City serves a population of 6,600 across 2.2 square miles with a 2024 budget of $10.8 million and a team of 19 FTEs.   


THE BUILDING OFFICIAL

Reporting to the Mayor, the Building Official is responsible for the enforcement of the State of Washington Building Code as amended by the State Building Code Council, and related construction codes and ordinances. Work involves the examination of plans and specifications, permit issuance, and assessment of penalty fees for work without a permit. The Building Official conducts field inspection of structures in all stages of construction, alteration, and repair for compliance with pertinent building and safety codes and ordinances. The City issues approximately 50-75 permits per year for business, land use, and building. With approximately 10 commercial buildings, most of Brier’s development is residential.
