The Walla Walla Housing Authority (WWHA) is seeking a Chief Executive Officer for this independent public corporation that provides rental assistance, housing, and supportive services to more than 1,800 households across southeastern Washington’s Walla Walla and Columbia Counties. WWHA is located in Walla Walla, a vibrant community of approximately 34,000 residents, known for its quaint small-town charm, agricultural heritage, notable colleges, and a lively arts and cultural scene.

WALLA WALLA HOUSING AUTHORITY

Guided by a vision of a community where everyone is housed, WWHA’s mission is to create housing opportunities that enable low- to moderate-income families to prosper with dignity and respect. The organization is committed to fostering, cultivating, and preserving an equitable culture of diversity and inclusion in pursuit of this mission. Founded in 1972 as an independent public corporation, WWHA is governed by a six-member Board of Commissioners and operates with an annual budget of approximately $16 million and a staff of 42 FTEs.

THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Under the supervision of the Board of Commissioners, the Chief Executive Officer administers and manages the overall operations of all agency programs, including the physical, financial, and social aspects of the housing provided by the agency. The CEO is responsible for supervising all employees; coordinating housing programs at the policy level with local, state, and federal agencies; and implementing policies established by the Board.

WHY APPLY

This is an excellent opportunity for a talented leader to further the long-standing success of the Walla Walla Housing Authority. Under the 34-year leadership of its retiring executive director, WWHA has become the leading provider of affordable housing in its city and county. It has also been an important voice on local, state, and national housing policy. WWHA is financially stable, well-managed, and effective. Its staff is experienced, and its Board is attentive, sophisticated, and well-connected to the community. WWHA now seeks its next leader to sustain and further this success.
