The City of La Grande is seeking a City Manager for this charming community of 12,973 residents tucked along the eastern foothills of Oregon's Blue Mountains. La Grande is the county seat of Union County and home to Eastern Oregon University, the city’s largest employer. Incorporated in 1865, the City of La Grande serves a population of 12,973 across 5 square miles (and an urban growth boundary of 6.8 miles) with a 2025 budget of $69 million and a team comprised of 113 full-time staff (140 budgeted) and 59 part-time staff. Departments include Building Division, City Manager’s Office, City Recorder, Community Development, Economic Development, Finance, Fire, Human Resources, Library, Municipal Court, Parks and Recreation, Police, and Public Works. The City operates under the Mayor-Council form of government with the Mayor and six City Councilors elected at large. The City Manager is hired by the City Council to oversee the day-to-day operations of the City.
