The Washington Fire Commissioners Association is seeking a Health Care Manager to lead and manage all aspects of the WFCA Health Care Program offered to fire districts, chiefs, commissioners, and volunteers statewide. WFCA is located in Olympia—the capital city of Washington State—and offers a unique energy, accessibility, and opportunity that few other communities can provide. The city’s outstanding quality of life, low crime rate, varied housing options, and family-friendly amenities attract an active and engaged population of 56,900.

THE WASHINGTON FIRE COMMISSIONERS ASSOCIATION

The Washington Fire Commissioners Association (WFCA) is a statewide quasi-municipal corporation dedicated to supporting fire districts, chiefs, commissioners, and volunteers through advocacy, education, and essential benefits. WFCA provides research services, full-time legislative representation, educational programs, networking opportunities, and a tailored healthcare program for fire service personnel and their families. WFCA is headquartered in Olympia, where five full-time staff work out of the association-owned James R. Larson Forum Building.

THE HEALTH CARE MANAGER

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Health Care Program Manager oversees all aspects of the WFCA Health Care Program, including monitoring premiums, claims, utilization trends, and managing contracts, appeals, and operational implementation with the program’s TPA and Broker. The manager leads communications and marketing efforts by engaging with member agencies, attending conferences, conducting outreach and trainings, preparing publications, and promoting program enrollment.

WHY APPLY

This is an excellent opportunity to oversee a self-insured health care program in a uniquely mission-driven role at the Washington Fire Commissioners Association (WFCA). The Health Care Manager will join a small, collaborative, and high-performing team that operates in a hybrid environment, working both remotely and in the Olympia office. This position manages health plan strategy and administration, facilitates stakeholder engagement, and ensures that members receive affordable, high-quality coverage. If you are passionate about serving those who serve our communities, and you’re ready to bring your health care acumen, enthusiasm, leadership, and innovation to a team that cares deeply, this may be the opportunity for you.
