Mountain View Fire Rescue is seeking a Fire Chief for this full-service fire district of 202 employees serving over 77,000 residents in Dacono, Erie, Mead, Niwot, Superior and the unincorporated areas of Boulder and Weld counties in Colorado. These communities comprise the Front Range region of Colorado, a dynamic and vibrant area characterized by panoramic mountain views, natural beauty, thriving cities, and endless opportunities for outdoor recreation with more than 300 days of sunshine per year.

MOUNTAIN VIEW FIRE RESCUE

Mountain View Fire Rescue (MVFR) is a full-service fire district of 202 employees serving over 77,000 residents across 250 square miles in Dacono, Erie, Mead, Niwot, Superior and the unincorporated areas of Boulder and Weld counties in Colorado. MVFR operates with a 2024 budget of $41 million and responded to 6,786 calls for service in 2023.

Responding from 10 fire stations with a mixed fleet of over 100 vehicles, firefighters work a 48/96 schedule and provide a tiered response for the 70% of calls that involve an EMS component. All firefighters are EMTs, or Paramedics, and provide ALS level care and transport services via a fire-based EMS/Ambulance program operated by the Fire District. The District protects four major highways which bring almost 270,000 daily visitors through the area.

WHY APPLY

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a rapidly growing fire district known for the exceptional character and dedication of its personnel. The new Fire Chief will engage in a wide array of challenges and opportunities, all set against the stunning backdrop of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. The District's scope of emergency services include mountain rescues, interstate highway events, and wildland fire containment—notably demonstrated during the Marshall Fire three years ago. The Fire Chief will oversee operations in many communities, all experiencing significant and dynamic growth, and must adapt and expand services in step with these communities’ needs. The ideal candidate will bring financial expertise, the ability to navigate complex revenue streams to sustain District operations, and exceptional relationship-building skills to unite stakeholders around a shared vision for the future. If you have the experience, ambition, and commitment to make a difference, this may be the opportunity for you.
