The Enumclaw Fire Department is seeking a Finance & HR Specialist to join their team in this new position. This is an exciting opportunity for an administrative professional to utilize one’s experience in finance and human resources to provide high quality and effective services to both the department and the community.   

Located 40 miles southeast of Seattle at the northern gateway to Mount Rainier, the Enumclaw Fire Department provides emergency services to the City of Enumclaw as well as the surrounding rural plateau. The Department covers approximately 56 square miles, protects a population of more than 20,000 citizens, and runs over 2,500 EMS and fire calls per year from two fire stations.   

The Enumclaw Fire Department operates on an annual budget of approximately $6.5 million with 28 FTEs including the Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, Fire Marshal, Training Captain, 3 Shift Captains, 18 Firefighters, Finance & HR Director, Finance & HR Specialist, and Administrative Assistant. 
 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE 

The ideal candidate will have a thorough knowledge of public sector human resource procedures along with familiarity in public sector accounting and financial procedures. They will have the ability to apply contemporary organizational and administrative principles and practices to a wide variety of complex work situations and have a broad latitude for independent action and decision-making. Additionally: 

  • An associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field and Certification in Human Resource (SHRM-CP or PHR).  

  • 5 or more years of progressive experience in human resources and financial capacity, preferably with a fire district or local government.  

  • Any equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible administrative, financial management, or human resource experience is qualifying.
