Housing Pierce County (formerly Pierce County Housing Authority) is seeking an Executive Director for this self-supporting public body enterprise created by Pierce County Council to provide safe, decent, affordable housing and economic opportunity free from discrimination. With a population of over 900,000, Pierce County is a dynamic and diverse region in western Washington known for its mix of urban energy and natural beauty. Located about 50 miles south of Seattle, Pierce County stretches from the inlets and islands of Puget Sound to the forested slopes and high elevations of Mount Rainier.
HOUSING PIERCE COUNTY
Located in Puyallup, Housing Pierce County (HPC) currently operates 121 HUD Public Housing units that HPC is in the process of selling, along with 20 Units of USDA/RD Housing. HPC also administers approximately 3,003 HUD Section 8/HCV program vouchers, and a growing Enterprise Portfolio presently comprising approximately 725 apartment units in 8 communities. 59% of HPC households have an elderly or disabled Head of Household. HPC is extremely diverse in its service population and mirrors this diversity with its staff. HPC is governed by a five-member Board of Commissioners and currently employs approximately 50 individuals.
THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Working with the Board, staff, and the community, the Executive Director must develop a shared vision for the future of the organization, build understanding around the current mission, and develop appropriate goals and strategies to advance that mission. The Executive Director collaborates with the Board to establish operational objectives that support the strategic plan and is responsible for leading HPC and its staff in the implementation of both the strategic plan and the annual business plan.
