The Everett Housing Authority (EHA) is seeking a Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) for this mission-driven public agency that provides rental assistance, housing, and resident services to about 4,000 households in Everett and Snohomish County, WA. Located 28 miles north of Seattle, Everett is a vibrant city of 111,000—the largest city in Snohomish County and the county seat.
THE EVERETT HOUSING AUTHORITY
EHA's mission is to create affordable housing, foster healthy communities where households thrive, and replace systemic racism with equity for all. EHA owns and manages over 2,100 units of housing serving households across the income spectrum and administers over 3,700 Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers. EHA operates with a 2024 budget of $92 million and a team of 129 FTEs.
THE DIRECTOR OF DIVERSITY, EQUITY, INCLUSION, & BELONGING
Serving as a thought leader and strategic partner to the Executive Director and senior leadership team, the Director ensures that best practices in DEIB are deeply ingrained at all levels of the organization. The incumbent will drive the creation of sustainable, data-driven structures to advance DEIB initiatives, foster a work culture of inclusion and belonging, and lead efforts to promote equitable access to housing for all residents. The objective of this role is to lead the agency’s DEIB work to ensure that race and other marginalized identities, including disability, LGBTQ+ status, gender, age, English proficiency, and more, are not predictors of housing access, housing stability, or housing quality.
WHY APPLY
This is an excellent opportunity for a DEI professional to make a major impact on employee morale, retention, and wellness at an important public organization with a vital public mission. The Everett Housing Authority (EHA) is a lively, well-regarded, and growing public housing authority with ambitious plans to expand its work. EHA benefits from a caring and dedicated Board and a talented, diverse, and committed staff. Led by a highly capable transitional executive director, EHA is an organization transitioning to its next generation of leadership. It is currently rebuilding its systems and recruiting its next generation of senior leaders. The DEIB Director will be handed a truly unique opportunity to make the position their own. There is no blueprint for EHA’s DEIB work, since this position has been vacant for some time. EHA also offers alternate work schedules and the option to flex time so that employees can enjoy a work/life balance. All administrative staff work 37.5 hours per week.
