Shasta Area Safety Communications Agency (SHASCOM-911) is seeking a Director to lead this emergency communications center serving California’s Shasta County. Spanning nearly 3,850 square miles in the heart of northern California, Shasta County is known for its majestic landscapes and abundant outdoor recreation. The county is home to iconic natural landmarks, including the snow-capped Mount Shasta and the vast blue waters of Shasta Lake—California’s largest reservoir and a popular destination for boating and fishing. 

SHASTA AREA SAFETY COMMUNICATIONS AGENCY (SHASCOM-911)  

Serving California’s Shasta County, SHASCOM-911 is a joint powers agency that provides 9-1-1 and dispatch services for the Anderson Police Department, the Redding Police and Fire Departments, the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, and Shasta County’s EMS providers. SHASCOM serves a county population of 181,586 with a 2025 budget of $9 million and a staffing of 50 FTEs. The agency receives approximately 25,000 calls each month. 

THE DIRECTOR

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Director is an executive-level position with the full scope of responsibilities associated with leading a stand-alone professional public safety agency. The Director is responsible for the effective and efficient management of SHASCOM, ensuring high-quality support to member agencies, exceptional customer service, and the highest level of safety for emergency service providers and the public they serve. SHASCOM plays a critical role within the broader local public safety network, and this position ensures its reliability and operational excellence.
